Do you have little or no experience with soccer? No problem! AYSO will teach you based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of AYSO’s specialties. If you plan to be at your child’s soccer practices and matches, you’ll also have time to be your child’s coach.

Coach Position Descriptions

You must be at least 18 years old to be a Coach or Assistant Coach. Follow the instructions for the division in which you’ll be coaching.
 
 
6U, 8U, & VIP Coaches:

1. Register as a volunteer at www.ayso166.org
2. After receiving the email, Complete the required 2-step background check (Sparks AYSO pays the cost)
3. Take the online AYSO Safe Haven course at aysou.org
4. Take the online 8U COACH course at aysou.org

 
10U and 12U Coaches:

1. Register as a volunteer at www.ayso166.org
2. After receiving the email, Complete the required 2-step background check (Sparks AYSO pays the cost)
3. Take the online AYSO Safe Haven course at aysou.org
4. Signup at aysou.org to take any in-person 12U COACH class

(If you take the online 10U coach portion, you still have to come to the in-person 12U coach training for the field portion.)
 
 
14U Coaches:

1. Register as a volunteer at www.ayso166.org
2. After receiving the email, Complete the required 2-step background check (Sparks AYSO pays the cost)
3. Signup at aysou.org to take any in-person INTERMEDIATE COACH class

• Pre-requisites for the Intermediate course include: Certified as a 12U Coach, online Summary of the Laws of the Game, online Concussion Training Course, AYSO SafeHaven, and training plan design

 
16U/18U Coaches:

1. Register as a volunteer at www.ayso166.org
2. After receiving the email, Complete the required 2-step background check (Sparks AYSO pays the cost)
3. Take any 3-day ADVANCED COACH class by signing up at aysou.org or going to Golden Gate Camp.

• Pre-requisites for the Advanced course include: Certified as an Intermediate Coach and course pre-requisites
